Rodney Franklin Edmonson

Rodney Franklin Edmonson's earthly life ended on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at the age of 68, when he entered heaven peacefully, while sleeping at his home in Mooresboro, NC.

He was surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 10, 1955 to the late Frank Donald Edmonson and Blanche Elizabeth Allen Edmonson in Cleveland County, NC.

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother Donald Gene Edmonson.

Rodney is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Teresa Jones Edmonson, his son Daniel Franklin Edmonson (Elizabeth), daughter Rev. Elisabeth Edmonson Cothran (Ben). Also left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren Elijah Franklin, Bethany Grace, Caleb Thomas Edmonson, and Willow Rayne. He is also survived by his brother, Evans Eugene "Rusty" Edmonson (Sarabeth), along with several nieces and nephews.

Rodney is a graduate from Shelby High School, Gaston College, and Gardner-Webb University. He worked for the Tennessee Valley Authority for several years, and then worked as a manager with Duke Energy until his retirement in 2016. He faithfully served at 2nd Baptist of Shelby, Camps Creek Baptist and currently at Westwood Heights Baptist Church where he served in various capacities throughout the years as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, building and grounds, and sound technician. Rodney will be remembered as a godly man who loved helping and serving others, truly being the hands of Christ. He was happiest spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at 6:00 PM, Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Westwood Heights Baptist Church with Rev. David Costner, Rev. Jimmy Black, and Rev. Steve Durham officiating. The family will receive friends following the celebration of life in the fellowship hall of the church. A burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 13, 2024 at Cleveland Memorial Park.
