Ronald "Ron" Wayne Stroup

Ronald "Ron" Wayne Stroup, 76 of Thomasville passed away Sunday, June 2, 2024 at his home.

Born September 9, 1947 in Shelby, NC. He is a son of the late Carl Ray Stroup and Evelyn Rae Jones Stroup. Ron was a salesman with Sara Lee Corp. until his retirement. After retirement, he enjoyed working the market for Holland House Furniture and seeing all the many customers he came in contact with. Ron was an accomplished amateur golfer. He enjoyed camping in the mountains and cycling. Ron sang in his church choir and in a barbershop quartet. He was a very giving person who loved volunteer work and was always willing to help whether he knew you or not. He was a man who never met a stranger.
Ron is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ann Olsen Stroup and two sons, Ronald Wayne "Chip" Stroup and wife Kissie of High Point and Craig Olsen Stroup and wife Tammy of Thomasville. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Christine Watkins and husband Justin, Kathryn Stroup, Tyler Stroup and wife Emily, Elizabeth Wilson and husband Daniel, Jackson Stroup, seven great grandchildren, Norah, Jameson, Zoe, Lainey, Margot, Levi, Lillian and sister Carla Stroup Gambrell and husband Ron of Seneca, SC, brother-in-law Don Olsen and wife Hermine, several nieces and nephews and his dog Spencer.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Ron Stroup will be held 2 pm Friday at Shady Grove Global Methodist Church with the Reverend Dr. Tom Mabry officiating. The family will greet friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
