Ronnie Schirra Woody, 60, departed this life on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at Baptist Hospital in Columbia, SC.

Born in Gaston County, he was the son of the late Bobby G. Woody and Rachel Lowery Woody. Ronnie served in the United States Marine Corp., and worked until his death as an independent contractor. Ronnie loved his family and spending time with them.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Beulah Ann Gingles; brothers, Bobby Woody, Jr. and Ronald Lee Wilson and paternal and maternal grandparents.

He leaves to cherish fond memories to his mother Eula Mae Woody of Shelby, NC; two sons, Dominique Woody of Shelby, NC and Devonté Phelps (Jasmine); one daughter, Evonne Hopper (Walter) of Shelby; three brothers, Umar Moore and Michael Woody (Jackie) both of Shelby and Larry Woody (Karen) of Norfolk, VA; a sister, Kathy Woody Whitworth of Hickory and special friend of 18 years, Mildred Calloway of Columbia, SC. Ronnie also had ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, Waco, NC at 11:30 a.m. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday and also at 1308 Hunt Street, Shelby, NC. The burial will take place at Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC.
