Ruth Huss Stamey (90 years old) passed away on February 16 at home surrounded by family. She grew up in Vale, NC and was the daughter of Femister and Mildred Huss.

Jim and Ruth Stamey were married June 6, 1959 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Vale, NC, and made their home in Polkville, NC.

Ruth trained as a nurse at Shelby Hospital School of Nursing and served as head of the Practical Nurse Education Program at Cleveland Community College, retiring in 1992 with 30 years of service. She was a faithful member of Polkville Methodist Church, serving as treasurer for 40 years.

She was proceeded in death by her parents Femister and Mildred Huss of Vale, NC, and sisters Annie Faye Huss and Joyce Huss Herlick.

Survived by husband of 64 years, Jim Stamey, daughters Karan Smith (Stephen) and Jamie Stamey (Ben Hinson), two granddaughters Haley and Sarah Smith, and brothers Foy, Tom (Betty) and Norris (Myra) Huss.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Polkville Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.

A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Polkville Methodist Church with the Dr. David A Irish officiating.
