Sammie Katherine Goforth Lowery "Kaye" passed away peacefully Saturday December 3, 2022.

A native of Cleveland Co., she was born to the late Sam and Katherine Goode Goforth. In addition to her parents, Kaye was preceded in death by her beloved Uncle Joe Goforth.

Kaye is survived by the love of her life, husband Richard Lowery, to whom she was married for 58 wonderful years. Kaye had 3 children, daughters Richelle Lowery Sajovec and husband Mike of Raleigh and Laura Kaye Lowery and special friend Michael Hoyle of Shelby, son Matthew Wells Lowery of Asheville, grandchildren Patrick, Jack (Natalie) and Sophie Sajovec and Hattie Rose and Lily Padgett, sister Susan Porter (Bill) of Charlotte, brothers Steve, Dennis (Peggy) and Richard (Linda), all of Shelby and Aunt Sophia Goforth.

Kaye was a wonderful wife, mother, aunt, friend and confidant. Kaye was beloved by many and a friend to all. She believed in beauty and love for everyone and was a true giver. Kaye was an artist and potter for many years creating beauty to be enjoyed by everyone. She was the true Pollyanna, cheerful and optimistic. She believed the glass was always half full never half empty. She will always be remembered as a beautiful lady with a kind soul.

A visitation will be held Wednesday December 7, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Cecil M Burton Funeral Home and Crematory. A private service will be held at a later date.

The family has requested that memorials be made to Cleveland County Arts Council, 111 S Washington St. Shelby, NC 28150
