Shirley Ann Morgan Wright, 86, passed away Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, North Carolina.

Born November 7, 1939, in Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Fred Morgan and Dorcas Daves Morgan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Lee Wright.

Shirley worked for a number of years at Doran Yarn, where she was known for her work ethic. She found joy in life's simple pleasures, especially listening to Elvis Presley's music and watching ice skating, two pastimes that brought her great happiness.

Shirley is survived by her loving family, her son, Ricky Wright; her daughter, Starr Wright Walker and husband Lee; and her cherished grandchildren, Javan Walker, Jade Walker, and Heather, Hannah, Denny and Holden. Her family was the center of her life, and she will be remembered for the love and devotion she gave so freely.

In accordance with her wishes, Shirley requested that her body be donated to science to assist those in need and to further medical research.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Wellington House in Gastonia for their love and care for Mrs. Shirley.

Memorial donations may be made in her memory to National Fibromyalgia Association, Dementia Society of America, or Disabled American Veterans.
