Thomas Edward "Eddie" Ramsaur, passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023, at the age of 93 at Terra Bella in Shelby, NC.

He was born on September 11, 1930, in Lincoln County, North Carolina, to the late Morris Shuford Ramsaur, Sr. and Dezzie Lee Grigg Ramsaur. In addition to his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 71 years, Betty Wood Ramsaur, as well as his siblings Morris Shuford, Jr., Katherine, Hubert, and Bill.

Eddie was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church in Shelby, NC, where he found solace and strength throughout his life.

Eddie and Betty shared a deep love for their local YMCA, attending faithfully and finding joy in their community. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to his country.

After more than 50 years of dedicated service, Eddie retired from the Shelby Star, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and integrity.

Eddie is survived by his cherished daughter, Gwen Smart, and his adored granddaughter, Carrah Smart, along with her husband Josh and their son, Jackson Thomas, who brought immeasurable joy to Eddie's life.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, October 13, 2023 in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Shelby. The family will receive friends in the sanctuary following the funeral. Private burial will be held at Cleveland Memorial Park.
