Thomas Kenneth "Tommy" Wilson

Thomas Kenneth "Tommy" Wilson, 85, passed away on Saturday, June 1st, 2024.

Born in Gaffney, SC, he was the son of the late John Harry and Ethel Jones Wilson. Tommy built and ran Wilson''s Country Store and Cafe, which opened in 1976. He was active in his community. He was involved with starting the first Buffalo Fire Department/First Responders in 1986 for the Buffalo Community and served in the fire Department for 35 years. The Buffalo Fire Department now includes 3 stations. He was also an integral part of establishing the non-profit, Our Place, a private club that served the Blacksburg Community with high school scholarships and other fundraisers. He served for many years as President. After retiring from the store, he delivered meals for Cherokee County Meals on Wheels and drove a bus for the Cherokee County School District. He loved his family and his community and his Clemson Tigers. He enjoyed being with family, woodworking, and walking in the woods.

Tommy is survived by his children, David Wilson (Jessica Enewold) and Kelly Wilson Richardson; his sister, Nancy Stacy; and his grandson, Seth Richardson (Joy Keith).

In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by his sisters, Harriette Parker and Ann Campbell.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 8th, from 10:00-11:00 am at Buffalo Baptist Church. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11:00 am with Dr. Bruce Price officiating. Interment will be in Buffalo Baptist Church Cemetery. Greg Smith, Derrick Smith, Josh Batchelor, Dan Millwood, Greg Parker, and Sam Campbell will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Firemen of the Buffalo Fire Department.

The family would like to thank his many caregivers, including Suzette Sharpe and the staffs at both Viva Senior Living and Agape Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Buffalo Volunteer Fire Department, 137 Blackwell Road, Blacksburg, SC 29702.

The family will be at their respective homes.
