Timothy A. Hendrick

The Rev. Dr. Timothy A. Hendrick beloved husband, daddy, poppy and pastor received his heaven reward on Friday, October 11, 2024.

Born in Cleveland County, on July 7, 1956, Tim was a son of the late Hal and Dorothy Eaker Hendrick. He was a graduate of Burns High School, Gardner Webb University, where he played football, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, in Wake Forest, NC.

God called Tim to serve two churches: Sandy Run Baptist Church in Mooresboro where he was known as "Preacher Tim" and Patterson Grove Baptist Church in Kings Mountain where he was "Pastor Tim". He served each church for twenty years. During his career Tim served in various positions with the Greater Cleveland County Baptist Association and was currently mentoring several young ministers. A member of Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department he served as department chaplain. Tim's most enjoyable hobbies were playing golf and fishing with friends. His most precious gift was his family. He loved spending time with them and supported their various activities.

Tim took his calling into the ministry as a privilege and would constantly witness to any person God put in his path. He would want you to know the same Joy and Peace that he has from Jesus! Do you know Him as your Lord and Savior? His family would love to share His love and truth with you. "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Joe Costner and brother-in-law, Rev. Danny Benfield.

Tim is survived by his high school sweetheart and cherished wife of forty-six years, Rita Costner Hendrick; two beloved daughters and sons-in-law, Christy and Jed Edwards of Palm Bay, FL and Jenny and Joey Tysinger of Fallston; five grandchildren, Elijah Edwards, Isaiah Edwards, Jeremiah Edwards, Alex Tysinger, and Jacob Tysinger; brother and sister-in-law, Phillip and Dorothy Hendrick of Carolina Beach; sister, Ellen Benfield of Raleigh; mother-in-law, Peggy Costner of Fallston; brother-in-law and wife, Joe and Jean Costner of Fallston and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Pastor Tim will be held on Sunday at 2:00pm at Patterson Grove Baptist Church with the Revs. Keith Dixon and Brad Bridges officiating. Following the service the family will hold a reception for family and friends in the church fellowship hall.

A private burial will follow in the Rose Hill Memorial Park, Fallston.
