Mr. Wilhelmus "Bill" Peters, age 84 of Cherryville, NC, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2025, at his residence.
He is survived by his two daughters, Audrey Borsberry of Cherryville, NC, and Rebecca Hood and Chris Burnett of Kings Mountain, NC, eight grandchildren, Melanie Malone and husband Skyler of Kings Mountain, NC, Hannah Cheryl Hood and Gabriel Huntsinger of Kings Mountain, NC, Kristina Edmondson of Greensboro, NC, Elizabeth Roche of TN, Victoria Hood of Indian Trail, NC, Sarah Hood of Boston, MA, Joshua Jurewicz of North Tonawanda, NY, and Dakota Burnett of Kings Mountain, NC, two great grandchildren, Christopher and Lucas Malone, a brother, Hans Peters and wife Jeanne of San Jose, CA, two sisters, Anneke "Annie" Randall of Casa Grande AZ, and Mimi Hansen and husband Don of Casa Grande, AZ, and a special friend and neighbor, Jeanie Benton of Cherryville, NC.
Born October 11, 1940, in Arnhem, Netherlands, Bill was the son of the late Wilhelmus Bernardus Antonius Peters and Anna Catharina Aleida Maria (Van Soest) Peters and was preceded in death by his wife, Violet Cheryl Spake Peters.
Bill was a loving husband, father, uncle, and Opa. In his younger years, Bill bowled a perfect game. He played soccer with the FMC company team. Bill had been a loyal fan of the Oakland Raiders since their inception. He was so happy to finally have boys in the family when his great grandsons came along. Bill never passed up an opportunity to eat a handful of M&M's. He was humble, kind, and had a witty sarcastic sense of humor. The best thing about him was the way he loved his wife Cheryl for 38 years.
A private family graveside service will be held 2:00pm Monday, March 10, 2025, at Ross Grove Baptist Church.
