William "Bill" Thomas Ledbetter, Jr.

William "Bill" Thomas Ledbetter, Jr., 81, passed away Monday, October 14, 2024 at Atrium Health Cleveland Hospital.

Born in Cleveland County on March 22, 1943 he was the son of the late William Thomas Ledbetter, Sr and Myrtle Goforth Ledbetter. In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his son-in-law Jeremy Cooke.

Bill proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and later enjoyed a successful career with Eaton Corporation, where he eventually retired. A devoted family man, Bill was known for his warmth, generosity, and kindness. He had a passion for woodworking and found joy in solving puzzles and working with machines. Always ready to lend a helping hand, Bill will be fondly remembered by all who knew him for his selflessness and the care he showed to others.

Bill is survived by his wife of 35 years Judy Wright Ledbetter, children Michelle L. Cooke, Charles Childers (Michele), Tonyia L. Hornbaker (Marty), six grandchildren, Alan Heinbach, Justin Heinbach, Haley Camp, Charlie Childers, Kayla Hornbaker, Alexandria Childers, as well as six great grandchildren. Also left to cherish his memory are his two sisters Pat Kiser (Fred) and Betty Myers (Allen).

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, October 18, 2024 in the Chapel of Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Stroup offering words of encouragement for those in attendance. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial with full military honors will immediately follow the service at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Kings Mountain.
