William Edward Wilson, Sr.

Mr. William Edward Wilson, Sr., 84, of 125 Bridges Circle Kings Mountain, NC passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at Atrium Health - Cleveland. He was born in Cleveland County, NC on February 13, 1936 to the late Oscar Wilson and Martha Burris Wilson.

Mr. Wilson was a longtime member of Hopewell Baptist Church where he joined as a youth. After rededicating his life to Christ, he served over the years as Superintendent of Sunday School and served as a Deacon for approximately 35 years. He was also a coach for the Hopewell Softball Team from 1974-1979. His life revolved around his family and church.

Mr. Wilson was employed with the Dover Group for 44 years before retiring. His pastimes included bowling, fishing and he was an avid hunter at one time. Whatever he did, he did 100 percent.

He was united in holy matrimony to his wife, Eloise Bridges Wilson on June 21, 1959 and remained united in marriage until her passing in 2015. One son, William Edward Wilson, Jr. was born to their union.

In addition to his parents and his wife, his siblings, Dosa Wilson, O. W. Wilson, Essie Robbins, Betty Wilson and Ada Douglas have also preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his son, William Wilson, Jr. (fiancé, Gonita Clark) of Shelby, NC; special daughter, Brenda Roberts of Shelby; two grandchildren, Kay'se Wilson of Atlanta, GA and William Wilson, III of Shelby; one great-grandson, Jahmir Dion Pauling; one sister, Dorothy Hopper (Homer) of Shelby; "special sons", Ronnie Jones, Donald Clark and Jerry Smith and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 7 , 2020 at 11:30 AM at Hopewell Baptist Church. Burial will take place at church cemetery . The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 11:30 AM at the church. Condolences can be expressed online at www.enloemortuary.com. Enloe Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements
