William Leo (Bill) Putnam 90 of Mooresboro, NC passed away on August 30, 2025.

Born February 21, 1935 in the Mt. Pleasant community. Bill is predeceased by his parents I. Hythe Putnam and Ruth Hicks Putnam, his wife Joyce Harris Putnam, his son James Dean Putnam, and a sister, Marjorie Putnam Morgan.

Bill is survived by a sister, Peggy Houser (Wayne) of Lake Houser, Mooresboro, NC and a brother, Stephen Putnam (Marsha) of Mooresboro, NC, and granddaughter Jessica Putnam of Chapel Hill, NC.

Bill was the owner of Nautilus Fitness Center of Shelby for many years. He was a Special Education and P.E. teacher for the Rutherford and Cleveland County School Systems. He was a teacher, coach and an encourager. He served 42 years in the United States Naval Reserve and 4 years active duty in the Korean War, receiving the China Service and Good Conduct Medals.

A grave-side service with military honors will be held on Sunday September 7th at 3:00 o'clock at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Mooresboro, NC.
